Bridgeport's bravest battled a mid morning blaze shortly after shift change. The fire was discovered by an off duty Stratford firefighter reporting a house well involved at 46 Willow St. A full assignment was put out by FCC due to multiple calls also being received.
First in units Engine and Ladder six were delayed into the box due to a road construction project near firehouse forcing them to take a longer route.
Once on scene, Six truck reported a two and a half story, wood frame well involved on the second floor and into the attic. Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack, stretching multiple 1 3/4 hand lines to darken down the fire. The fire took about a half hour to bring under control.
One family, living on the first floor had to be relocated by the Red Cross.
No one was injured during the fire.
This fire occurred during a busy cycle in the city, which has been having at least one fire a day.
